ARTERIAL ROADS BILL
A'FAVOURABLE" RECEPTION. In his tour of the North the Minister, of Public Works (the Hon. J. G. Coates) had opportunities of discussing the Arterial Roads Bill with local bodies. Asked to-day % how these .bodies viewed the measure, the Minister said that he had received many resolutions expressing approval and (some protests. On the whole, the opinion expressed was favourable, and there was a general feeling that the time was ripe for some measure' of control. .- . Some of the local bodies wished to obtain information as to finance, but this he could not give -until the Bill came before Parliament. Otherwise there were not questions raised Which were not dealt with' in the statement which was made public.
