CARUSO MEMORIAL
MUSICIANS' SERVICE.
A memorial concert to the, late Signor Caruso was held in the Masonic Hall, Boulcott-street, yesterday 'afternoon. The hall was crowded, and hundreds of people were unable to obtain admission^. Mr. A. E. ;Batt, who presided,' read' an address, in which he described the perseverance of Caruso in entering on his career as ay singer. It could be faithfully said that no tenor ever lived who so completely captured the world of opera. His death would be deplored by) all singers and musicians. The musical portion of the service included two Caruso, gramophone, re-" cords, "Eiegie"- (Massenet), with violin obligate by Mischa Elman, and' a portion of a Requiem Mass I;(Verdi). Other items were: "The Singer's Farewell" (Lyric Quartette), "0 Divine Redeemer" (Mdss Teresa M'Enroe), "Shepherd of Souls" (Mr. Herbert F. Wood) ■ "Resurrection" 1 (Mrs. J. F. Woodward), "Pro Pecoatis," from Persini's "Stabat Mater" (Sdgnor Cesaroni), and "Crossing the Bar" (recited by Mr. Alexander <
Watson). Signor Oesaroni thanked the promoters of the memorial concert, and said he.would acquaint Caruso's family with the great tribute paid to the tenoiin ,a land so far removed from Italy. The service concluded with Chopin's "March* Funebre," played by Miss Gladys Watlrins. ■
