JASCHA HEIFETZ.
.. i As the time draws near for the /first concert to be given by Jascha Heifetz, the great violinist, interest is rapidly growing, and there should be a very large audience in the. Town Hall on Wednesday evening to welcome him. Of one of the Melbourne concerts, the critic of the < Argus said: "Heifetz does not sonnd sorrow in sorrowful terms. If it must be expressed, he does it with a haunting charm that robs it of its ' pain. Passion,-too, he robs of its, sting, but not of its expressiveness. He makes it .beautiful." The programme for the first qoncert will be announced to-mor-row, and entirely different programmes will be presented at each concert. The box plans for all three concerts are now • on view at the Bristol. Substantial concessions will be made to parties of musical students and scholars from schools and colleges.
MiBS Jennie Hartley, arrived from Sydney by the Ulimaroa yesterday and leaves this evening for Dunedin, where she will begin a tour of the Fuller circuit. ■■■■■••■ / '. ■■■ ■ -.• - ■
