WAIRARAPA DEFEAT WANGANUI
The Warrarapa-Wangaflui representative match was played at Masterton under favourable weather conditions, but both teams were "without som-e of their beet players. Combination waa lacking, and play was generally of a ragged order. The teams, however, were evenly matched, and the result was in doubt until the final whistle. The advantage of the first spell was with Wanganui, who kept up a strong attack. Hartley, •scored the first try for the visitors from a passing rush., and later, after a period of ragged play, Jackeoh finished off another passing movement by scoring under the posts. Neither try was converted. 6-0. Before half-time Torrance kicked a, penalty goal for Wairarapa. 6-3. Jn the second spell the play improved, the home forwards being more aggresive. F. Booth equalised the scores by ■an unconverted try. Even play followed, until R. Booth placed the home team ahead by a good try. The visitors then attacked strongly, and met with success, Collier getting over. 9-9. Subsequent play/ was exciting, and just before the call of time Torrance kicked another goal,, Making the final score :— Wairarapa, 12; Wanganui, 9.
