EASY WIN FROM WAIKATO.

For the contest between New South Wales and Waikato the weather was fine but'dull. There was, a, large attendance. The visitors quickly attacked. Mingay (half) marked smartly, and taking the kick goaled. The home side then carried the ball into the visitors' territory, but the visitors ware soon back again, the forwards playing well. Mata (the home five-eighths), was injured at this stage, and was replaced by Buckingham. Shortly afterwards a penalty to the visitors was taken by Mingay, who scored again. Play was then carried to the visitors' territory, and Peach, from a penalty, goaled for , Waikato. The visitors attacked hotly in the closing stages of the first quarter, but in the second quarter Waikato attacked, testing the visitors' defence. From a good passing ruch, Buckingham scored, and Peach converted. The spell ended 'with: Waikato 8, New South Wales G.
On a'esuming, the visitors went to the attack. Louden goaled. Lane, one of tho visitors, retired, hurt, and was replaced by Carr. A penalty gave Mingay a shot, and he goaled. From a. passing rush Carr scored. Louden failed with the kick. In the final quarter Carr scored, and, after a spell of fast playj Davis got over. Mingay converted. From loose play, Harty scored for Waikato. Peach failed to convert. The visitors had the best of the game throughout, particularly in the backs. The home team held their own in line-
out play, but in all other departments the visitors were superior. The match ended with the visitors 28 points and Waikato 11.
