A SUCCESSFUL VENTURE,

The bazaar in aid of the St. Mary's Rebuilding Fund was concluded at the Town Hall on Saturday night, after being in progress for a fortnignC It is expected that nat return „f rom the venture will be about £5000. "'

• Saturday's entertainment 'attracted a very large gathering- During the evening the Pierrots, whose contributions have been of much assistance during the bazaar, gave two good programmes. The performers in this band, Misses Alix Anstis, Eileen and Evelyn O'Brien, May Tracey, and Messrs. Cli'f. Baker, George Clapham, George Toller.ton, and Tom Tuohy, were very sucoessfu] in their solos and concerted items, and greatly pleased the large audience .present. Braund's Elite Orchestra played a number of enjoyable selections.

At the close of the bazaar the result of the Queen Carnival contest was announced. The winner, Miss M'Evedy, held ,<a long lead until towards the close of the contest, but narrowly escaped! defeat. The results* were; Mias Mary M'Evedy (Armagh Stall). 109,516; Miss Cecilia 'Ellis (Rlieims Stall), 108,298; Miss Ik Card (Wellington Stall), 84,856; Miss Kathleen Crewdson (Westminster Stall), 56,609; Miss Mollie Butter (St. 'Peter's Stall), 37,369.. The total votes, 396,618, represent ,£4956 2s in cash. Father Mahony briefly returned thanks to all who had assisted in securingl such a fine result, and the audience complimented Father Mahony and tlhe various bazaar workers -with hearty cheers.
