BY CHINESE IN SAMOA,
(IT TELEORAPB.—PRESS . ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This Day.
Six Chinese arrived by the Tofua, from Samoa. Four were sentenced to life imprisonment, and two for seven years for attempted murder of a Chin<?6o interpreter, who was frightfully hacked, and marked for life. He lost one eye.\ Dr. Ahlo. Chinese Consul at Apia, was charged similarly, but was acquitted on the ground that the evidence was all hearsay. Apparently, whoever induced the coolies to commit the'erime had used the consul's name. The Court considered Ahlo had acted unwisely in. withholding information from the authorities. '
