VICE-REGAL,
His Excellency the Governor-General, Viscount Jellicoe, will return to Wellington from the South Island, to-morrow.
The Hon. D. H. Guthrie, Minister of Lands, left Wellington to-day for Dannevirke. He will return on Tuesday.
His Honour the Acting-Chief Justice (Mr. Justice Sam) left last. night for DuneHin, to conduct the criminal sittings of the Supreme Court at ; that centre.
Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P., Mrs. Wilford, and Miss Wilford are passengers on the Marama, which is due in Wellington from San Francisco on Tuesday.
Mr. J. W. Ransom, secretary of tine Wellington District Fruiterers' Association, left for South last night on business connected' with that body.

Mr. G. Wildish, Mayor, of iiisborne, is at present in Wellington on a biwiness visit in connection -with the flotation of a borough loan. It is understood that his efforts have been successful.

Police-Sergeant John Lander, of Auckland, has-been promoted to the rank of. senior sergeant, and is to succeed SeniorSergeant Till at Wellington, the latter police officer having been recently promoted to subrinspectov and transferred North. ■ ..■<
The Director of Repatriation (Mt. J. R. Samson) lefty Wellington for Blenheim yesterday on Departmental business. He will visit the ' local repatriation counties in tire district, and' will also; inspect I the 'Mahakipawa soldieT settlement. He is expected back in Wellington about Tuesday next.
At a meeting of the .Westport District High School Committee 1 last night, it was Tesolved to congratulate Mt. George Aitken, a native of Westport and a pupil of the school, on his selection as captain of the All Black team against the Springboks, to wish him success in to-day's match, and to have an enlarged photograph of him placed in the school, with a record 'of his ; edncational and sporting iattainmerite.
