(IT TELIGIUPH.—SPECIAL TO THE POBT.) :__ MASTERTON, This Day. Mr. T.^J. Rayner, of Masterton, is at present lying seriously ill as the result of a stroke. His condition is extremely grave, and is causing his relatives: great anxiety. '*■.') Mr. R. W. Steel, manager of the Mas- , terton' branch of Wright, Stephenson, and Company, Limited, is at present confined to hia room. Mr. Paul Kummer has return to the Coast after > a visit to Canterbury and Otago. ! ( The settlerß at Kahutara, Lower Valley, are at present erecting a public hall, the framework of which is already up ; Mr. G. R. Sykes, M.P., has. been visiting the Wairarapa constituency and discussing matters ,with settlers, in the absence of Mr. A. D. M'Leod, M.P. A groyne has been'placed in the Tauherenikau River, near the new bridge, in order to divert the stream from the' property of the Wairarapa Racing Club. The sessions of the Supreme Court at Masterton, over which his Honour Sir John Sahnond will preside, will open on Bth September. The Castlepoint County Council, finding, that its, £2000 overdraft limit was nearly exhausted, authorised arrangements for it to be increased to £4000 if necessary. i
