Two curtain-raisers were played at the Athletic Park torday, ttie WairarapaWeßington juniors on No. 1 ground, and -Wellington College A and Petone fifth-class teams on' No. 2. The latter were playing the final for the championship, and a good, even game resulted in a win for PetAne by nine points to suf. For- the winners Nichc-lls did all th« .scoring, kicking two penalty goala and securing an unconverted try. Cumming scored a try for. WeEington College and. Bart potted a penalty goal. This was the first occasion on which Petone, -who iiare registered over 500 points, have had their line crossed, during the season. . ' '
