DUNEDIN; 12th August. A fifteen-round professional, lightweight boxing contest between Mick Rutherford (New South Wales)' and Les Murray (Dunedin) was fought in His Majesty's Theatre to-night^ before a capacity house. The contest only lasted nine rounds, Rutherford being unable to continue further. The local man was aggressive from the start, the visitor haying to box on the retreat; and the points of each round were secured by Murray, whose short jolts gradually wore his opponent down. At the end of tly> ninth round Rutherford's seconds threw- in the towel.
