JASCHA HEIFETZ.
Jaseha Heifetz is an artist who comes once in a lifetime, and his visit is a brief one. Only three concerts will be given in the Wellington Town HaU, beginning on Wednesday next. Kubelik remarked •during his visit, to Australia that a great violinist must practice ten hours a day for the first 15 years of his life, and four hours a day for the rest of it. A famed concert artist is never allowed to get "stale," or what is called "out of practice." His concert engagements and rehearsals are. almost sufficient to keep, his fingers and mind supple. The problem of long sea journeys must, however, be faced. While voyaging to' Australia on the Orsova, Heifetz used to practice in strict seclusion every afternoon. His was not uncontrollable frenzy of practjee. It was sober, well judged, and symmetrical in tone and design. Scales in double harmonies, tenths, octaves, and single harmonies were executed with dazzling ease. Plans are now open at the Bristol.
