THE THACKER SHIELD.

AUCKLAND, 11th August. As an outcome of differences betweon the Canterbury and Auckland Rugby Leagues regarding the rules governing the Thacker Shield, the New Zealand League has decided to return the shield to Dr. Thacker, and accept a trophy from Mr. C. Weaver instead. This will be handed to Ponsonby, holders of the Thacker Shield, and will bo competed for under the new rules formulated by the New Zealand! League for the Thacker Shield.
