AUTHORITY TO BORROW
Authority is given to local bodies by notices in this week's Gazette, to borrow an aggregate amount of £971,050. The rates of interest allowed are: 7 per cent., £730,000; 6 per cent., £122,000; 5} par cent., £5000; 5£ per cent., £91,030. In the last-named class axe the following: Lower Hutt Borough Council, £64,000 for gasworks; Woodvalle County Council, £600 for bridge building; Martinborough Town Board, £300 for electric extensions.
