CANTERBURY WINS FROM WAIRARAPA
MASTERTON, This Day. Canterbury defeated Wairarapa in fine weather on a heavy ground by 8 points to 3. The game was not brilliant, but very fast and exciting. Early in the game Matson kicked a penalty goal for Wairarapa, who were having the best of the play, Canterbury being frequently on the defensive. Blaaey scored for Canterbury, and Orchard converted, the spell ending, Canterbury 5, Wairarapa 3. The second spell was characterised 1 by vigorous forward play. Henry landed a fine penalty for Canterbury. Orchard, the Canterbury full-back, played a great game, including a fine effort to get a goal from half-way. Mullins, the Cumhiings brothers, and M'Cully were also prominent. For« Wairarapa, Q. Donald played a sterling game.
