WRECKAGE AT LORD HOWE ISLAND
NOT FROM THE CANASTOTA.
'*'■ SYDNEY, 9th August.-' The steamer Makambo v has arrived. The captain reports that he thoroughly searched the wreckage sighted, off Lord Howe Island. The markings thereon did not tally with the Canastota's cargo. i (Received August 10, noon.) ! SYDNEY, This Day. Regarding the. wreckage, it is explained that some was marked TOT, while the Canostota's manifest showed markings TT only. It is now stated that.j the "0" is probably an old' marking, believed to have belonged to the Canostota. The agents await further particulars before making a definite announcement. [A wireless radio message was received at Sydney a few days ago from the steamer Makambo at Lord Howe Island, stating that a quantity of charred debris had been washed ashore there, together with several charred benzine and tallow casks marked PAT over New York, and some boats' planking.]
