(sum* rsiss association.—conßia«T.) (AUSTRALIAN ■ NEW ZEALAND CAILI AMOCIATION.) WASHINGTON,- Bth August. The Immigration officials announce tljat they will ask Congress to amend the immigration law in order to allow the admission of more Australians and New Zealanders. Residents of the Pacific coast have been asking for the admission of more Australians', on the ground that they make a fine type of immigrant. Only 50 New Zeala.ndera and 271 Australians are admissible annually under the present arrangement, and the officials wish the minimum to be 1200 for any nation. This increase will only add between 2000 and 3000 to the total annual immigration.
