DAMAGING RUMOURS
A POSITIVE DENIAL.
There have been misleading rumours in some quarters lately to the effect that the moratorium might be extended to deposits at the Post Office Savings Bank. Before leaving for the North to-day, the Postmaster-General (the Hon. J. G. Coates) gave a positive and. emphatic denial to all such statements" There had never been any application of the moratorium to the Post Office Savings Bank, there was no power to make any such extension, and there had never been any intention on the part of 'the Government, nor would there be in the future, to bring the P.ost Office Savings Bank under the moratorium.
