CONDITIONS UNDER NATIONAL , AGREEMENT. ' .. .i-'
Mr. J. Arbuckle, secretary of liie Miners' Federation, in d statement mado to a representative of The Post to-day, took strong exception to the remarks made by Mr. T. 0. Bishop (representing the mine-owners) concerning 4he number of ..petty disputes during tfie' currency of the national agreement. Thei.pevidd of the national agreement, said llr. Arbuckle, Jiad been termed the most troublesome in the history.,of. the, industry. Aa a matter of fact, the agreement was not fully recognised by the mining companies until September or October, and trouble occurred in: certain mines because the owners had' not honoured the 'agreement. Aiiy disputes were of the owners' making, except, for one or two local disputes which would have occurred under any agreement,. When Mr. Bishop attempted to put, tho blame for the disputes on to the miners he was misleading the general public. The mines had been practically free from , trouble since the terms of the national' agreement, were' adhered to by ■ all-.the ( companies. • ■' .
