.» SPAIN DISREGARDS ADVICE

OFFENSIVE OPERATIONS TO

CONTINUE

CABINET CRISIS AT MADRID,

(UNITES PRESS ASSOCIATION COPXKMHT.)

(P.EtTBR'S mEOBAM.) (Received August 8, 9 a.m.).

LONDON, 7th August.

That Spain is determined not to follow the advice to clear out of Africa, freely tendered in the British and French press after the recent reverse at Melilla, appears in an official despatch fro)i> Madrid. Aftet admitting the possibility of the fall of General Navarro, that his troops arc still holding out at Montearruil, it rays: "This, however disagreeable, will not affect the offensive operations by General Berenguer, for which sufficient troops are concentrating at Melilla. The recovery of the whole territory recently lost is confidently expected."

Despatches from Paris, vhowever, show that there arc difficulties ahead, and declare that a mutiny arose among" the recruits on the troopship Valencia en route to Morocco recently, and only was quelled by the intervention of two destroyers which were escorting the troopship. Destroyers now train their guns on troopships crossing the Meditorranean.

MADRID, 7th August The situation in Morocco has caused a Cabinet crisis. It is expected that Senor Mafra will form a Cabinet. (Received August 8, noon.)

MADRID, 7th August. It is reported that Navarro's troops have escaped from Montearruit, and are making for Mellila.
