' Mr. Cecil Harmsworth' (UndenvSee. retary for Foreign Affairs), replying to questions in the House of Commons, said that Germany on Ist July signed a trado agreement with China, under which the parties agree to exchange diplomatic and commercial representatives. Germany renounce the claim for consular jurisdiction in China, but obtains rights of travel and residence, and to engage in industry and 1 commerce in i those plaoess open to nationals of other Powers. Geimans, while subject in principle to the Chinese tariff laws, will continue ,to benefit by the conventional tariff applying to the Treaty Powers until tile Chinese national, tariff is created. The liquidation of war and other debts is provided for.
