The Duke said he was certain his successors would be unable to live at Welbeck Abbey, Since the armistice more than a score of great titled landowners had bean forced to sell a portion of th«r ancestral acnes, including the Dukes of Sutherland and Westminster. Hundreds of thousands of acres, worth millions, had changed hands, mainly owing to the economic situation. ,
