A PROTEST.

AUCKLAND, This Day.
A meeting of representatives of the Ironmasters' Association and the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, .Boilermakers, and Bridgebuilders' Union, and the Iron, and Brass Moulders' Union resolved to telegraph, the following resolution to the Minister of Public Works: "This meeting respectfully protests against the Public Works Department, deleting clauses from contracts for plate steel girders, specifying that the work shall be done in New Zealand; respectfully draws the attention of the Minister to the increasing -amount of unemployment in the iron trade of the Dominion; and requests the Minister to reinsert the deleted clauses in _ tho specifications for any work which can bo done in the Dominion."
