POULTRY MEN MEET

The annual conference of the affiliated societies of the New Zealand 'Championship Association was held yesterday, the acting-president (Mr. E. Gallichan) being in the chair. In welcoming the delegates, he said that the coming year promised to be a most successful one.

There were some complaints in regard to the non-delivery of certificates won at last year's shows, but Mr. GaJlichan gave an assurance that they would be distributed at the earliest possible date.

Among the remits carried were the following :—That the championship groups be arranged, so thai each group •will include poultry, bantams, pigeons, and canaries, and that the groups as allocated be numbered and rotate in regular cycles;. that all feathered varieties showing a total collective entry of twenty •at the various shows be given a championship; that the list of judges be revised; that in the opinion of the conference ""the time has arrived for the Championship Association to run its own a.rt union; that at ail shows held by affiliated societies the Old English Game and O.E. game Bantam classes be judged according to the standards of the O.E. Game Fowl Ckiib; that classes ehall be included in the schedule for wheaten or day hens and pallets, and for blue and blue reds; that societies holding a twodays' show be charged iSS 10s and a three-days' show £7.105.. The question of deleting certain canary classes was referred to the Welling•ton Cage Bird Club, whilst the O.E. iGame Club is to be asked to dram up a I classification, of the O.E. game.

A vote of sympathy was passed to the secretary, Mr. Guthrie, in his continued illness,, and hopes were expressed for his recovery in the near future. Appreciative reference was made to the work of •the president, Mr. Finn, who recently •left Wellington for Auckland. The Wellington body, said the Chairman, would •greatly miss his services.
