They are relying on support from 5000 members belonging to the affiliated women's societies. But they look as well to most Wellington women and all open-minded men. Being so representative, these Candidates are expected to bring to the civic life of the town something good in their own special line. If large cities in other countries have I successfully made the Great Adventure of electing women councillors, why should not progressive Wellington ? THE RECREATIVE ASPECT — (a) There are our Public Libraries and our Public Baths, neither adequate for the needs of this growing town. (b) PLAYING AREAS—Our children and young people badly need these, and if they can be established in connection with the school grounds of. the future, so much the better. (c) REST ROOMS—More of these v would make life very much easier for the mothers and women folk generally. ' .. 11. THE COST OF LIVING— A cheap and efficient system of municipal distribution would mean cheaper and bttter Ash, fruit, and vegetables. 111.-SLUMS AND HOUSING— These problems neeed to be attacked • from both points of view—the women's as well as the men's. IV. HEALTH AND SANITATION— There are numberless matters here I which claim the attention of wot men—from the open dust carts in the streets to the delivery of food. Wellington is a business town certainly, but even business suffers from epidemics. and unhealthy conditions. So Men, for the sake of your wives and your finances; Women, for the sake uf your children and your homes; Business Girls, for the sake of healthy conditions work; all, for the sake of the health and comfort of your city, vote for the nominees of the Women's National Council.
