WET SOUTHERLY COMING

The anticipated fair-weather -week-end duly arrived, and has gone; and the also anticipated "change to follow" has begun. Cloudiness has increased generally since Sunday .Might, and rain was reported this morning from the west coast and southern portions of the South Island. Westerly winds are blowing and freshening, and are likely to increase to "strong to gale," especially ,in the south of Cook Strait, end to turn to southerlies by to-morrow morning. The barometer should fall in the meantime, and is likely then to rise, jrobably high.; Tho weather will bo unsettled and cloudy, with heavy rain on the west coast and southern districts of. the South Island, whore tho rivers will be high. Tha weather will be colder and the rain general, and snow is expected \on the highlands in the South.
