OTAKI, 28th February.
Owing to the Order-in-Council gazetting Otaki a borough not being obtained in time, the borough elections have been postponed. They will probably be held on 21st March instead of the 7th.
Mrs. Gledhill, of Wellington, died at the Otaki Hospital on Saturday, aged 60 years. The interment took place yesterday. ' ~ Messrs. J. P. Bradon and G. A. Monk have been nominated for the vacant position on the Palmerston North Hospital Board, caused by the retirement of Mr. P. Perm.
It is expected that H. E. Wilson, the well-known sprinter, will be a competitor at the Otaki sports on St., Patrick's Day. A Victoria College student, K. Griffen, journeyed from Woodside to Otaki, via the ranges, on Sunday, while Mr. Tennent, of Wellington, to-day left Otaki to cross to • Woodside. During the week a party of five crossed the ranges via Mount Reeves. ■
A cenotaph in memory of fallen soldier* is at present being erected at Manakau. Harvest thanksgiving aervices were held at Otaki last night, and were splendidly attended.
What is claimed to he the heaviest bullock in the world may now be eeen at Otaki, prior to shipment to England.
