At the annual meeting of the Palraerston North branch of the Protestant Political Association, officers for the ensuing' year were elected a<s follow:—President, Mr. J. S. Munro; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. BaLsillie and J. Burroll; secretary, Rev. C. H. Duncumb; assistant secretary. Miss Sawley; treasurer, Mr: W. Ritchie; executive, Messrs. M'Coubrie, Chism, Bycroft, Cobb, Mayes, and Mesdames.BurTell, Cullen, Chowen, Jones, .and Ward. As a mark of appreciation of past services, Mr. E. A. James was elected a life member. The Palmenston North Municipal Band, which was highly successful at the. recent B-grade Contest at Dannovirkc, has decided to take part in the contests at Nelson nest month. The whole of the prize money (£140) won at the Dannevirke contest has been paid into the band's' funds to assist in covering the expense of going to Danuevirke, and atops are now being taken to raise money to go to Nelson.
