WASHINGTON, 26th Feb. It i» understood that Sir Auckland Gedttes (British Ambassador) has beeii instructed to mediate in the controversy between the United States and Japan regarding the Baciiio cable communications. The State Department officials say that Britain cannot act as mediator in a matter .affecting Yap. The controversy is not only between America and Japan, but involves the .United States and all the Allies.
