PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE.

The annual picnic of the Public Trust Office took place on Tuesday last at Day's Bay. Although, on account of the rough weather, the swimming had to be postponed, the programme was expeditkrasly and successfully carried out. The Deputy of the Public Trustee, Mr. T. S. Ronaldson, late Assistant Public Trustee, together with officers of the Department and their friends, attended in large numbers, with the result that there were about 300 present during the day. A sports programme and the semi-finals and finals of the office tennis championship singles w>ere held?. Tho exhibition given in the tennis finals of the championship (ladiies and men) was excellent, the result being that Miss Drury defeated Miss M'Donnell, and Mr. H. Williams' defeaited Mr. P. Bond. In the evening am enjoyable dance was held in the pavilion, there being fifty couples present, while line music was supplied by Mr. H. Whiteman.
