The Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. F. Massey) returned to Wellington from the North this afternoon.

The Minister of Labour (the Hon. G. J. Anderson) leaves 'to-morrow for Napier where he will attend the- opening of the Fire Brigades' conference.

The Minister of Education (the Hon. C. J. Parr) returned- to Wellington yesterday from a tour of the South Island, during which he visited about 100 schools.

Councillor C. B. left I'Wellington for Auckland by the Main Trunk express on Saturday. .

Mr. Frank Wolfgang, of Ohas. Begg and Ob/, returned to Wellington by tho T.M.S. Marama yesterday.

Mr. B. W. Millier, Chief Clerk of the Marine Department, is on a visit to the South Island. j

Mr. W. A. ' Fordiham, Controller of tho mortgage division of the Publics Trust Office, is about to retire on superannuation after having completed over forty-two years' service.

Mr. C. M. Luke (chairman) and Mr. A. J. Maxwell, members of the Prices' Investigation Tribunal, returned Jo Wellington on Saturday night from Hastings, where they had been holding sittings of the board.

A Press Association message from EketaJrana states: The death took place yesterday morning of Mr. Thomas Parsons, Mayor of Eketahiina, at the age of 80 yeara. He arrived in New Zealand fifty years ago, and resided in Masterton For the last 33 years he has lived in Eketahuna. ■ He' was prime mover in connection, with co-operative dairying in the Wellington Province, was chairman of the Dairy Union, 23 years a director of the Dairy Produce Cool Storage Company, ami took a prominent part on local bodies and associations. He . was formerly ohairman of the Eoad Board and County Council; also chairman of the first Land Settlement Association, and one of the first councillors of. the Masterton Borough Council.

The Rev. Wyndham S. Heathcote, M.A. (Oxon), who resigned the Unitarian pulpit at Adelaide in January last in order to proceed to the United' States, has consented to fill the vacancy in the Wellington Unitarian-Church for the next three months,, pending the arrival of the Eev. James Shaw Brown from Manchester, England. Mr. Heathcote conducted the. services yesterday, morning and evening, and proved to be a preacher of exceptional power. After leaving Oxford University, he was ordained to the Anglican priesthood, and: was an Anglican chaplain attached to the Imperial forces during the Boer War. For health reasons he went to Australia, and was rector at Bundaberg (Queensland) for five years. He left the Anglican. Church because his religious views had changed, and joined .the Unitarian Church, holding a charge first in Melbqrne and for the last two years in Adelaide. Mr. Heathcote is a^cousin of Sir John Fuller, formerly Governor of Victoria.
