SHAND-BRISTED CARNIVAL.

Arrangements for the swimming carnival to be held at Te Aro Baths op the sth March are well id hand, and with large numbers of entries coming to hand the local Centre k. confident of a most successful gathering. A special feature of the carnival will be ,the appearance of Misses 6. Shand, and K. Bristed, who will give various exhibitions, and ■will also compete, in the 220 yards ladies' championship. In this "event Miss Shand will attempt to. set up a New Zealand record, and will make an effort to lower the world's record. In a diving exhibition the visitors will be associated with W. Hicks, the Wellington champion diver. Misses Shand and Bristed arrived from the South yesterday morning, and after touring part of the North Island they will return to ft'ellington on Friday next. Among events on a lengthy programme for the carnival are the following :—looyds Wellington Provincial Championship, Duthie Cup competition for schools, and 100 yds breast stroke championship for boys under 15 years. A notice regarding seating ■ accommodation at the baths appears elsewhere.
