NIGHT LETTER-TELEGRAMS

REGULATIONS AND RATESI

'Details of the regulations and rates for night letter-telegrams are contained in this week's 1 Gazette. Night lotter-tele-grams aro to bo received at any telegraph or tolephone office for transmission within the Dominion on the following conditions : — •. ' . \ , (1.) Thoy must be written in plain Enslish language. No code or oipher words aro permitted. The use ofa oode address or a code signature is prohibited. Trade terms in general use, such as f.0.b., c.i.f., are • permitted. ._ Figures . are pormitted. only in the address and signature. When required to bo used in the toxt figures must bo written-in words.

(2.) They may not bo cent as "Urgent," "Collect," or as . "Multiple" telegrams, and such instructions as "Reply paid," "Repetition paid," ' are not permitted. /They !will not bo accepted by telephone; nor r will they bo accepted from c Government Departments.-

(3.) They.may bo accepted throughout the day up to ono hour' of the time, of closing of either the'office of origin or destination, whichever is the earlier.

(4.) They may riot bo v accepted on Departmental holidays. (5.) The charge, for a night letter-tele-gram shall be one shilling and sixpence for tho first thirty-six words or fraction thereof, and one halfpenny per word for each 'word in oxceas thereof.

(6.) A night letter-telegram -shall, not be delivered until the morning following the lodgment of the telegram. i
