THE HOLIDAY
Doubtful weather has interfered to some- extent with the various attractions arranged for to-day, but nevertheless the bulk of the pcoplo of Wellington are making.the most of tho holiday. * The ohief attraction is the st*cond day of tho Wellington Kacing Club's Summer Meeting at Trentham, and a Big crowd has tiiken advantage o£ tho ample provision made by the railway > authoriv ties to convoy people to the course. For many wishing to spend the holiday at the _aeaside, tho Worscr BaY Amateur Swim' minjr and Life-saving Club's annual carnival has proved attractive, while otherf have used,the ipecial forty boats run to other bays. Numerous picnics are being held, and, as from the earliest days, a regatta, is being held on tho harbour. Indoor entertainments for to-night include "Irene" at the Grand Opera Houso, ;the Fashion Plata Dandies at th^ Town Hall Concert Chamber, and special programmes at tho various picture theatres.
