SHEEP SALE
Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Palmerston, Nort'dj in'-cchjunction with ■Messrs. Murray, Hobßrts;;and Co., Limited/ report having" held- the annual sale of Paroraugi Romney sheep.; on account of Mr.' Ernest Short, »t: the Manawatu A. and P Showgrounds,' Pulmerstori North, on Tuesday, 18th January,; 1921. There was not a very large, but-a fairly representative, attendance, buyers being present from Wellington; STaranaki, Woodvilip, Hawkes' Bay, Taihape,: Taumarunm, Wha'agarei, ■ Wanganiu, 'and immediate : surrounding districts.' The «heep camp torward in good order and the majority of stud rams, and all pens of stud ewes found buyers. The opening 1 prices for flock rams were very -satisfactory, but it soon became evident that sufficient.buyers were hot present lo compete for the whole of the catalogue, and a number of sheep wore passed at auction and withi^rawn. Lower gradb stud rams" sold to 20 guineas, bettor sorta 30 to 40 guineas. Mr. E. Riddiford, of Lower JJutt, was,the purchaser of tho two highest-priced rams, one at 85 guineas and one at 100 guineas, and Mr. L. T. M'Lean, of R«vva, purchased a single sheep at 81 guineas.: The stud ewes realised for one pen of ten, 2i guineas, one pen of five, 2? guineas, four pens of ten each, a guineas, one pen of 10, 33 guineas, one pen of ten, 3i guineas," the purchasers being J., Hardy (ViToodville), D. Ross (Wanganui), Soler Bros. (Marten),, A. Rowbottom (Hawkes Bay), L. Higgle (Wanganui). Bast fine wool flook rams sold at from 8, 9, 10J, to 11 guineas, very fair sheep 6 to 7 guineas, others from 3 to 4 guineaE, only one small pen being sold below the. lessor figure. Stronger wool flock rams, for best aheep, 6 or/7£ guineas, others 3 to 4J. guineas. Taking into consideration the position generally, the sale must be considered a s»tisfactory one.
