WELLINGTON MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association held its weekly meeting last evening, Mr. C. G. Wilson being in the chair. Others present were : Messrs.' M. J. Crombie, B. h. Salmon, K. H. Tucker, W. G. Hughes, C. R. Edmonds, R. G. Murphy, and R. S. Johnston (secretary).

In a letter from the Auckland Association, appreciation was expressed of the manner in which the Auckland team had been entertained on the occasion of the recent Shield match. "The matter itself," tho Auckland secretary stated, "will be long remembered. It has, I am sure, been the means of giving cricket, both in Wellington and Auckliiivdj much needed stimulation. It will also mean that we may look forward to good gates at future Wellington-Auck-land fixtures."

A proposal to pay part of the expenses of the junior team to visit Auckland created °orne discussion as to whether there should he an age limit for junior teams. ■ The Chairman said that tie would gladly support a financial vote providing the members of the team were young, say, well under 30. Other members supported Mr. .Wilson's views, but said they would like to see the junior teams being under 23 or 25 years of age. It was pointed out, however, thrft r, team had already been picked., and the selectors had not been! told there was to be an age limit. They had chosen the best plnyers available. A suggestion by Mr. Hughes that a grant should be given this year, and that next season an effort should be made to make junior touring teams self-supporting by means of the gates, did not receive the support of the other members of the committee.

The Chairman proposed a grant towards expenses providing the members of the team were 25 years of age and tinder.- This proposal .was carried.

A letter was received from the City Council, informing the association that application! had been, made by the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic. Association for permission to hold a sports meeting on. the Basin Reserve on Saturday, the 29th instant. Received.
