DOMINION COUNCIL MEETS

The Council of the Dominion Bowling Association met last evening, Mr. T. Bush presiding. The members present were :—Messrs. A. Dicksou and Barnett (Ciiristchurc.il), J. A. Nash, M.P. (Palmerston North), F. Meadowcroft (Wellinatonj, A. K. Smart (Tarauaki), J. Day and A. E. Summers. (Invercargill), A. Fowler and T. Gray (Wellington), W. Nicholson (Dunedin)', and the secretary (Mr. Sydney H. Underwood). It was decided unanimously, after considerable discussion, to adhere to a previous announcement and start the paiw tournament to-morrow morning at 9 o'clock.

A letter was read from the Dunedin Centre in respect to. the stamping of bowls, and suggesting that this should be done annually, with figures representing the year.

It was decided, after the matter had been well discussed, that, further, consul oration be deferred until the meeting of the council next year at Dunedin.

Mr. B:ini(Ht reported that letters of introduction had been received from the Prime Minister for the bowlers who contemplate visiting Britain in for presentation at, ports of call en route. The secretary reported having sent a letter to thc^ General Manager of Railways thanking him for the arrangements made for tho tour of til's New South Wales bowlers, which had unfortunately been cancelled owing to the shipping strike in Australia.

Mr. gj. A. Nash said that at_the meeting of centre delegates the previous evening a report had been made regarding a pair of bowls used by a player in the tournament, and instructions had bsen given for the bowls to be kept for further testing. This instruction had been complied with, but the bowls had nnt yet been .returned, and the' player wished to participate in the pairs' tourney. Mr. Nash" said that the bowls hod been sent to Wellington for testing, and the player had not'\seen them until ho hnd arrived here to obtain them from ths tester. There could be no imputation against him, whatever might be said about the bowls. The latter bore the official stamp of the association. The secretary said that the official tester would re-test the bowls "this morning.

Before the council dispersed, complimentary references were made to the work of tha president (Mr. L. 'Bush) during the year and in connection with the tournament, and."He's a Jolly Good Fellow " was siing. Reference was also made to the assistance of Mrs. Bush in entertaining visitors during the tournament, j ♦ It was decided, on the suggestion of the president, to send a letter of thanks to Mrs. I. Selig, for her splendid, work in organising entertainment for the visiting Indies during the tournament. It was also decided to ask.Mrs. Selig to convey the thanks of the council to the other ladies who had given valuable assistance.

The President, on behalf of the association, thanked the Wellington Centre for the organising work it had done in connection with the tournament.

In acknowledging this, Mr. F. "Meadowcroft (president of. the Wellington Centre) said he would be pleased to convey the expressions of the president to the centre.

A vote- of thanks was passed to-the Wellington' Bowling Club for its splpndid hospitality, and its general reception of competing bowlers. In proposing this, Mr.- Nicholson referred to the untiring efforts of Mr. Selig, of the Wellington Club. . . ...

Mr. Gray. (Kelburn) spoke of the president's happy fulfilment of'his official duties, and hoped that a- place would be found for him on the executive when he retired from office.
