The chief guests were His Excellency the Govcr-nor-Genoral. (Viscount Jellicoe),' the Prime Minister, (the Et. fHon. W. F. Blassey) and Jivs. Mas3ey, and the Mayor and -Mrs. Luke. Many ladieswere amongst' tho visitors, and they wei'e provided with ssate around the greenand in the pavilion balcony. A bowlers' welcome was given His Excellency,-who arrived at the green at 4.p.m. He was met at the entrance gates—the new war memorial gates—by Iho association's ■ President (Mr. ,T. Bush),' Mr. 1\ Meadi}w§ro!t (President of the Wellington Centre), and Mr. M. Can(President.! of the ~> Wellington Club). Play was tempoi'arily suspended, and a]l tho bowlers, in "their club colours'^- lined up and sang 1 "God »Save the King," the crowd joining in. His Excellency was' escorted' to tho pavilion, where afternoon tea was in progress, and the tedies in charge, Mesdames Bush, Selig, Magnus, Underwood, Beiinie, Sievwright, Hendry, and Btowi were pwsented. His Excellency, was then provided" with, a seat on the bank, with the Prime Minister and . Mrs. Massey, and the Ma.yor and Ma-yoi'ess, wh«re a cbmmaaiding view of the games could be obtained, and. for the ie3t of'the afternoon ho Was an interested spectator. All visitors; were tho guests of tho association, and were, provided with afternoon tea. Special attention was paid to the Indies. A string and wind orchestra contributed . selections, during' the afternoon. The bright'sunshine inado the onting very enjoyable.. THE!
