LICENSING BENCH
The adjourned meeting of the Wellington Licensing Bench was continued this morning, tho only matter for contjidejation being that of the transfer of the licenso of the Wellington Hotel. Some time ago Mr. ■ P. L. Firth obtained a temporary transfer of tho license from Mr. W. Hannafin, but ths police objected to the transfer at the last quarterly meeting, alleging that the conduct of tho hotel under Firth's direction was not satisfactory, and the matter was adjourned to see what arrangements could bo made. It was stated to-day by Inspector M'llvenoy and Mr. .T. O'Doiiovan, representing H»nnafin, that the former licensee had repurchased the lease from Firth, and would take over possession at tlio earliest possible date. The Chairman, Mr. W. G. Kiddell, S.M., said that the committee concurred, and that the re-transfer would bo considered at the next quarterly meeting in March. Mr. H. F. O'Loary appeared for Firth.
