BRITAIN'S EDIBLE FATS.

BUTTER AND MARGARINE SUPPLIES,

(DNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN-HSW ZEALAND CAELE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 7th October. 1 Weddel's annual review of dairy produce shows that Britain's total supplies of butter in 1914-15 amounted to 240,000 tons, and of margarine 197,000 tons. The supplies lor 1919----20 were: Butter, 130,000 tons; margarine, 360,000 tons. Thus margarine now represents 75 per cent, of the country consumption of edible fats. The quality of much of the Government butter is very unsatisfactory, notably the Danish and Dutch, but New Zealand and Australian have fully maintained their quality, especially Australian, which has been noticeably improving since Commonwealth grading was substituted for State grading.
