Sir Auckland Geddes (British Ambassador), at a speech at a dinner in honour of representatives of. the British Chambers of Commerce, said: "I believe most strongly that, in-vspite of possible local diminufciong of profit, commercial co-operation :. between the United States and Britain will pay as both best in the long run. No half-baked Communist or military adventurer can long distunb the world if the English-speak-ing peoples work together." Sir Auckland Geddes denied tile published reports that the British Government has resold to the German Government a number of German ships, with- the object of hindering the development of the American merchant marine.
