A COMMITTEE'S DECISION QUASHED.
AUCKLAND, 6th October. The Bay of Islands Licensing Com- ! mittee'e recent order refusing renewal, 1 of the license to the Duke of Marlbor ongh Hotel, Russell, was quashed by Sir John Salmond in the Supreme Court to- , day, on the ground that certain mem- ' bers of the committee had placed them- I selves in siioh a position that they could ; reasonably be thought to be affected by i bias. He was, however, satisfied that they had really determined the matter j without bias, but in view of the facts the order must be qua&hed. The application for renewal of the license would < therefore stand as if it had not yet been heard, and a date for hearing would be fixed.
