ST. HILDA CHOIR CONCERT

At St. Hilda's Hall, Island Bay, last evening, a most enjoyable concert was given by St. Hilda's Choir, assisted by the Island Bay Orchestra and other wellknown performers. A feature of the evening was the combined performance of the "Soldiers' Chorus" ("Faust") and "And the Glory of the Lord" ("Messiah") by the Augmented Choir and Orchestra. Glees by the choir, selections by the orchestra, songs by Misses Grant and Willoughby, Messrs. W Church, and E. W. Lewis, trombone solo by Mr. W. Lever, a.nd piano solo by Miss Gwen Wing completed a. first-class programme. Mr. C. E. Proctor conducted the choral works, Mr. J Duncan led the orchestra, and the accompanists were Mrs. Proctor, and Messrs. Allen and Duncan. Every item was encored, and the large audience fully appreciated the entertainment. In the absence of the vicar, Rev. G. C. Blatbwayt, Mr. T. Gibson thanked the performers. The choir funds should benefit considerably as a result of the concert.
