WESTPORT HARBOUR BILL.
A report was made by the A to L Petitions Committee of the House of Representatives on the petition of the Westporb Harbour Board regarding the Westport Harbour Bill. The petitioners prayed (1) for the repeal of section 109 of the Finance Act, 1915; (2) for refund of all moneys -paid into the Consolidated Fund by virtue of the above section; and (3) for the appointment of a Parliamentary Committee to inquire into the administration of the board since 1014; also for a decision as to whether the proposed Bill was necessary or desirable. " " • ■
The report of the Committee was that, as a question of policy was involved, it had no recommendation to make, bufc was of opinion that if the Government took over the Westport Harbour, amjjle local representation should be given on the controlling authority.
