RESIDENT COMMISSIONER
The Prime Minister stated in the House of Representatives yesterday that Mr. Platts, Resident Commissioner of the Cook Islands, would return to New Zealand about the end of the year, and would take a. place on the Magisterial Bench. His place would be taken by a gentleman whom they had in view, but whose name could not yet be made public. _ Mr. Massey said that he felt sure that if anyone could make a success of the administration of the Islands it would be the gentleman who was now to be selected for the post.
