SITUATION IMPROVED.
(51 li ri!iBQ3APH.--PKESS ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 24th August. . The War Office reports that in Mesopotamia the situation has improved. The areas north-east and north of Bagdad are quiet. A stroflu body of tribesmen made several attacks on a party of Sikhs covering blockhouse construction south of Hillah. The attackers were beaten off with heavy losses. Our casualties were forty.
