UPPER HUTT SITTING.
The monthly sitting of the Upper Hutt Magistrate's Court was held on Wednesday before Mr. J. S. Evans. S.M. For failing to attend drill. W • Jones was fined 20s and 7s costs. V. E. J. Carr was fined 20s with 7s costs for riding a motorcycle on the footpath. In civil cases, judgment by default was given for plaintiff in the undefended cases :—J. J. Geange v. V. Williams, £9, with 22s 6d costs. In a defended case, J' J. Geange succeeded in his claim for a balance of 19s, with 23b 6d costs, for cartage done for 0. Cullen. R. M. Wennie sued A. L. Harper for £164 for damages alleged to be due to a collision between a motor-car owned by defendant, and plaintiffs motor-cycle and side-car. Alter hearing the evidence decision was given in favour of plaintiff for the amount claimed, defendant to take the wrecked cycle, or in the alternative detendant to pay the sum of £134 5s and Plaintiff to retain the motor-cycle. Costs ™> the extent of £11 14s were allowed against defendant. Mr H. P. O'Leary appeared for plaintiff, 'and Mr.' 0. Mazengarb for defendant.
