The Board of Trade returns for July show the imports to have been £163,----342,000. compared with £153,065,000 in the previous July. ' The experts were £137,451,000, compared with £65,315,----000. The imports for" the first seven months of the year were £1,196,328,000, compared with £869,652,000 for the same period last yeaiv The exports were £774,----918,000 this year, compared with £400,----071,000 during the January-July period last year.

"Invisible exports'' during the Janu-ary-June period are estimated at £310;-----000.000, including investments abroad of £60,000,000. The net shipping earnings were £230,000,000. After deducting £240 ; 000,000 for the excess in • visible imports, the balance in favour of exports was £70,000,000. It is estimated that the .July-December "invisible exports" /will. be £290,000,000, of which investments abroad are estimated at £60,000,----000, and shipping earnings at £210,000,----000. Deducting, for excess visible imports, £180,000,00, makes a total balance in 1920 in favour of exports of £180,000,000.
