THE WAR MEMORIAL.
Information was,sought in the House of Representatives by Mr. H. Atmore (Nelson) as to whether the committee set •up to decided upon a suitable National War Memorial and to choose, a site iv Wellington had reported to the. Minister of Defence, and whether the Mount Victoria proposal had been considered. The Minister' of Defence replied' that the committee set up to inspect sites in Weljington had visited three, and, at the request.of the Mayor of Wellington, those sites would be submitted to the general committee for consideration.- Ho ■was hoping to cali a. meeting oi the general committee for Friday, when a decision would be made. The site chosen would probably be submitted to Cabinet on Saturday. Mount Victoria had been mentioned to him as a suitable, site, but it wa3 noi one of the three spoken of above.
