ISLAMIC FERMENT
ARAB NATIONAL MOVEMENT
(ENITEB PIIZBB ASSOCIATION.—cePYRISDT.) OTSTKAMAN - NEW' ZEALAXB CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received August 11, 10 a.m.) , SIMLA, 10th August. Thei Khilafat Committee in India, for organising opposition to the Turkish Peace Treaty, has had its application for passports for a deputation which it proposed to send to Mesopotamia, the Hediaz, and other Islamic countries, refused by the Government, in view of the unrest prevalent in these areas. Investigation shows that the present disturbances in Mesopotamia, are due to Shereeffian propaganda,, directed from the borders of the new Arab State, and\ effectively seconded by Turkish agents operating from Kurdistan. The Arab national movement is making great headway among the Me3opotamian notables, particularly in Bagdad, which now supplies j Damascus with some of its most conspicuous agitators.
